About us

The Dutch DCM foundation is an initiative of the Dutch Association of IT suppliers (OIZ). The main objective is to stimulate semantic interoperability in Dutch healthcare. Standardisation is also among OIZ’s most important goals. With the introduction of the new OIZ board, one of the members, Evert Jan Hoijtink, is now responsible for standardisation issues. Hoijtink, CEO of Portavita, is vice-chairman of OIZ.

After some small standardisation project, the OIZ board has decided to further stimulate DCM development. The DCM foundation focuses on building a database with DCMs in three years. Detailed Clinical Models (DCM) provide a new way of structuring health information. In DCMs medical knowledge, data specifications and terminology are combined, making it suitable for various technical applications.

The next few months the foundation will be organised. The board will consist of several health care organisations, suppliers, patients, governement and insurance companies. Eleonoor van Gaalen will be the foundation’s director and will manage the development and maintenance of DCMs.
